Shweta Basu is an Indian film actress born on 11 january 1991 in Jamshedpur, Bihar. She started her career as a child artist. She won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in the movie Madkee in 2002. She completed her studies in commerce in the R. N. Podar High School, Santacruz, Mumbai. She moved to Mumbai with her father Anuj Prasad who is from Bihar and her mother Sarmishta Basu Prasad is from West Bengal. Her grandfather is a retired chief operating officer in Intelligence Bureau in New Delhi. As a child artist she also acted in the Star Plus’s Tv serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii as ‘Shruti’, daughter of Parvati and Om, and in Karishma Kaa Karishma. Shweta appeared in the movie Iqbal as Khadija in 2005 and the movie won several awards including the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 5th Karachi International Film Festival. She made her debut in telgu movie Kotha Bangaru Lokam co-starring Varun Sandesh.
